WHO/WHAT/WHY

PRETTYLITTLEPAW is me (Jason Goodyear) and anyone else who wants to work with me on a project and say that’s what it’s called.  If I’m not there, it can’t really be called PLP. If I am there, maybe. If it’s just me, probably.

This is an intentionally loose definition so I can work with anyone and we can do whatever we want without being restricted by genre, context, content, venue, hardware, fashion or anything else that breeds expectation.

When I was a child growing up in South Dakota there was still a record store at the mall. I used to go there and explore, which for a little kid was a very physical experience. Reaching the back of a rack meant standing on tip-toe, holding on with one hand and flipping records with the other. Like free climbing a mountain of vinyl.

One day I took a step back and looked over the racks, taking them all in as they stood in their neat rows of happy little class divisions. 33 1/3, 45, Rock, Country, Top 40, Rush, Blondie. An idea came into my head that someday I wanted to have a band, and that this band would put out lots of records. But instead of having one name and lots of album titles, every album the band would have a new name, but the album title would remain the same, ensuring that one day we would be found in all of the racks.

PLP is kinda like that. Kinda.
